Slovenia borders Italy on its west. The country has many mountains, valleys, rivers, and trees.
Slovenes came into the area around the 500s AD. It became part of the Charlemagne Empire in the 800, and later the Holy Roman Empire. The Austrians later had control of the territory until 1918 when the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes formed. Slovenia was later part of Yugoslavia in 1946, and became independent in 1991. Slovene is the country’s main ethnicity and language.
Themes of Slovenia include manufacturing, a strong economy, Catholicism, literature, music, art, and theatre.
